Arkansas Disability Policy Summit 2020 - Day 1

September 29, 2020 9:30am

Location: Online via ZOOM

The Policy Summit takes place every other year, prior to the start of Arkansas’s regular legislative session.

DPS Arkansas 2020 has gone virtual, with 4 hours of online content over 2 days. Join us on Tuesday, September 29th and Wednesday, September 30th. Participate in discussions about disability policy, legislative advocacy and the importance of voting. Help ADPC gather input from the Arkansas disability community by participating. Prepare yourself for the upcoming legislative session in 2021, be ready to advocate and make positive change in Arkansas.

It is vital that people with disabilities are involved in shaping policy discussions. This is a chance to interact with policymakers and let them know what issues are most important to you. There will be candidates for office and active legislators participating in this event. Please register today!

When:      September 29, 2020 from 9:30 am - 12 pm (Day 1)
              September 30, 2020 from 9:30 am - 12:20 pm (Day 2)

Where:      Online / Video Conference (Link will be emailed/sent to registered attendees on Monday 09/28/2020)

What:        Policy discussions, voting information, legislative advocacy planning for 2021

This year the Summit will be held virtually, over a two day period (September 29th and September 30th).  Please consider participating. This event is an opportunity for advocates in the Arkansas disability community to come together, before the next legislative session, to identify and prioritize policy issues. This allows time to prepare and plan for legislative advocacy during the 2021 General Assembly.

The Arkansas Disability Policy Consortium is collaborating with Community of Champions for the 2020 Summit.
Day 1 includes panel discussions (people with disabilities, legislators/policymakers).
Day 2 includes group discussions (breakouts/“round-table” discussions) and a voter education session.

You can register for the event online at:

Questions about the event or registration? Please email questions or registration forms to Sherice Smith at .

A 2020 Disability Policy Summit Brief will be produced from input gathered during the event. This document will be shared with all participants and will be available online. You will be able to use the brief in your legislative advocacy planning for action during the 2021 legislative session.

About the Arkansas Disability Policy Consortium

The Arkansas Disability Policy Consortium (ADPC) is a non-profit organization of volunteers who work to ensure the meaningful participation of individuals with disabilities and their families in determining policies that will empower them to work towards a stronger, more inclusive and economically independent existence. The board is made up of individuals from organizations, self-advocates, and parents of individuals who have a disability. Every biennium, the Consortium holds a policy summit allowing individuals with disabilities, their families, and organizations serving people with disabilities to come together to discuss and learn about policies impacting their daily lives.
