The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities Arkansas (GCDDAR) is a proud partner in the Arkansas Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE) 2022 Conference. The GCDDAR is a member of the National Association of People Supporting Employment First and is active in its Arkansas Chapter.

APSE is the only national, non-profit membership organization dedicated to Employment First, a vision that all people with disabilities have a right to competitive employment in an inclusive workforce. People with disabilities should not work sequestered in sheltered workshops, earning only pennies an hour. We want people with disabilities to enjoy the company of a wide range of coworkers, an opportunity for greater financial independence, and the ability to contribute to the economy. We provide our members with the tools, opportunities, and timely information needed to take action and build better workplaces through work with policymakers and employers. APSE is the national voice on workplace inclusion.

ATTENTION ADVOCATES WITH DISABILITIES: You are invited!

ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT ADVOCACY? The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) has a limited number of sponsorships available. Please let us know if you would like to attend the Arkansas Association of People Supporting Employment First conference later this year as a sponsored Self-Advocate. Sponsorships are first come-first serve, so please request yours as soon as possible! The conference runs from Wednesday, August 31st @ 11:30 – Friday, September 2nd @ 1:00. If you wish to attend, please contact jamiya.foote@dfa.arkansas.gov or call Jamiya at 501-682-6890. This sponsorship will only cover registration and meals specifically provided for in the agenda (see list). Any / all other food and incidental expenses would be your responsibility. Travel would also be your responsibility. There is a possibility that AR APSE may arrange a shuttle to Hot Springs from Little Rock area. If you send GCDD a request, your hotel reservation / lodging cost may be covered. Please send a separate written request for lodging (email is fine) to GCDD staff, as soon as possible. Only a limited number of sponsored rooms are available, first come-first serve. We hope you will consider joining us.
