CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) or TypeWell service will be available. Trained captioners will translate spoken word into captions that appear in real-time for participants at the event. ASL (American Sign Language) interpretations will also be available upon request. Fees / Costs

The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities Arkansas will cover lodging costs for Arkansans with intellectual and developmental disabilities that register and attend the conference (and their family members or support staff, if applicable). Travel and other costs will be the responsibility of the attendee.

The conference will provide lunch and dinner on Friday, 04/26/24, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday, 04/27/24. All other food costs will be at the attendee’s expense.

Attendees from outside of Arkansas will be responsible for their own lodging, travel and incidental expenses. We suggest they contact their own state council on developmental disabilities, protection & advocacy agency (disability rights org), or university center on disabilities (UCED) to inquire about possible support for these costs.

All are responsible for their own registration fees.

What does your best life look like?

At home, at work, and within the community.

Self-Determination is the freedom to live as you choose, or to act or decide for yourself what you want or need. You have the right to exercise control over your own life.

Supported Decision-Making allows you to make choices about your own life with support from a team of people you choose.

Person-Centered is planning based on your wants and needs – thinking and planning centered around you, for you. This way of planning keeps control in your hands, providing customized assistance in specific ways and in specific situations that are useful to you, in the manner you choose.
